You have the power to create a
REVOLUTIONARY marriage
that raises the bar!
Our approach
Although we will cover similar topics other premarital counselors will, how we talk about those things will be different.
Marriage "advice" often reinforces unhelpful/untrue stereotypes, sexism, and sends conflicting messages (e.g., marriage is great! ...but still a drag at the same time).
You are not going to hear that from us. We LOVE our marriage and know the power of transformational relationships and teamwork!
We believe relationships that THRIVE are relationships where partners work towards authentic intimacy, are accountable to each other, provide safety and stability, embrace courageous vulnerability, demonstrate mutual respect, and move towards wholeness. We believe marriage is a partnership where both people share power equally, co-lead, and serve together, side by side.
We will invest time together relearning what it means to be fully human in a world that constantly asks us to deny our humanity. We have found (both personally and professionally) that the conscious or unconscious decision to conform to sexist roles, stereotypes, and formulas often restrict true connection and authenticity.
Together, we will explore how to build a marriage that truly liberates oneself and others in the midst of a cultural scripts where power-plays, manipulation, and unhealthy dependency have become the norm.
For Christian couples, we can also incorporate faith-based components to explore God's original intention for marriage before sin and hierarchy entered the world.

About us

For my background, see my bio here.
My husband (Taylor) currently works at a domestic violence program where he facilitates groups on healthy relationships and abuse prevention. He is obtaining his Masters in Marriage & Family Therapy at St. Mary's University.
We both are certified facilitators of Prepare/Enrich. We have years of experience as healthy relationship educators and direct work with survivors of sexual violence, interpersonal abuse, coercive control, spiritual abuse, and all other forms of abuse.
We specialize in trauma-informed approaches that are sensitive to triggers and address the unique relational challenges after one or both partners have survived abuse and trauma.
